The guided tour will take place in the Diocesan Museum and Archaeological Museum of Ascoli Satriano, in the north of Puglia region.
You will admire the collection of sacred artworks in the Diocese of Cerignola – Ascoli Satriano Museum. Following will be accessed at the exhibition “Lo Spreco Necessario. The luxury in the tombs of Ascoli Satriano “, with the most luxurious haunted funeral kits found in the territory of Ascoli.
The path will bring the visitor to the exhibition “Polymeries of the Sublime” with the marbles and the splendid polychrome griffins uncovered and sold secretly in 1976-77 by some tombars to a famous art dealer Giacomo Medici and subsequently paid 7.7 millions of dollars at J. Paul Getty Museum in Malibu (USA). After long negotiations conducted by the Department of Cultural Heritage and Activities, 22 years after the purchase in 1985, the finds are returned to Italy by the Getty Museum on August 1, 2007.
