Tour details:
Guided tour of Gravina in Puglia, spectacular location overlooking the gravina of the almost unknown but very beautiful Murgia. It looks like Matera more wild and neglected but to be seen absolutely.
The tour will develop in a subterranean path, called “Gravina underground” and the last section on the surface.
We will start by visiting an underground quarry, other hypogeic sites, real “mines” of material acquisition for the construction of houses (blocks of calcarenite that here improperly call tuff) the voids created over time have become cellars, deposits and in some cases also housing.
The visit continues on the surface with the discovery of 2 rock churches of Basilian origin up to the eighteenth-century viaduct bridge Madonna della Stella overlooking the ravine with the visit of the Sant’Angelo aqueduct.
